Review of Apollo 13 (1995) by Alex M — 01 Jan 2013
All around just an utterly phenomenal movie. For its time, the effects look stunning and the sound is just great across the board; in the acting department, you have three great leads and an amazing supporting cast - Kathleen Quinlan is practically perfect in her role.
I think the crowning achievement of the movie, though, is making the audience feel the suspense and fear that the crew members of Apollo 13 felt even though we all know the ultimate outcome, and I think the director is to thank for that.
All in all, I believe Apollo 13 is a piece of masterful film making that everyone deserves to see; I had been previously hesitant to watch it because I thought it might be boring, but after seeing it in its entirety, I can easily say it is one of the most thoroughly engaging and exciting films of the 90s, and an instant classic to boot.
