I can give it only 3 stars since it was historically wrong. There is no proof that the Mayans were so cruel, they were mainly mathematicians and astronomes.

It was the Aztecs on the other hand that were sacrificing human beings. IF Mayans did, it was mainly Klings or higher nobility or prisoner taken in war but they woulden't sacrifice workers. They were agiculture people and woulden't let massgraves be so close to their fields either, and no massgraves were found from archeologists so it's just fiction. According to Gibson, the Mayan elite used religion to manipulate and control the people wich is not true. The eclipse of the sun takes hours and not minutes either.

Also the Spanish conquistadores came 300 years after the Mayan Culture had vanished and abandoned. Sorry Gibson, but you could have done so much better!!!
