Review of Apocalypto (2006) by Monty H — 17 Dec 2012
An epic movie that continues director Mel Gibson's assault on a film goer's senses. Set during ancient times and focusing on the Mayan culture, Apocalypto is a relentless and bloody story about one man's battle to save his wife and young son.
Jaguar Paw is the hero and when his village is attacked by savage marauders, he and the others are captured and taken to the invaders temple miles away. Meanwhile his expectant wife and son are hidden in a cave awaiting his return.
As with Passion of the Christ, this film has some unbelievable and graphic action scenes that Gibson doesn't even try to hold back with. This is definetly not one for the kiddies. But it is an amazing story how one man will fight against all odds to save his loved ones.
A must see.
