Review of Apocalypto (2006) by Little B — 10 Nov 2013
So very worth watching. wish I had seen it on the big screen. I found good character development, pathos, AMAZING visuals describing unknown cultures, and fantastic cinematography. I have NOOOOO idea why people claimed it was so violent.
MUCH less so than anything Tarantino does. Even less horrific than the old Conan the Barbarian movie. Most of the actual stabbing/shooting/etc was actually OFF screen... so while intense, it actually seemed mild compared to some films I've seen.
I loved having a hero out to save his wife/family... and a wife who was brave and smart on her own. GREAT film. Such a pity Gibson was not able to direct any movies after this. What a talented storyteller.
Such attention to detail. FANTASTIC!
