Review of Apocalypse Now (1979) by Justin Y — 18 May 2012
Intellectually shallow, Apocalypse Now does not shed light on new philosophies about the Vietnam war (as it attempts so hard to do). The hallucinatory take on the Vietnam War is troubling and obtuse, but Coppola's monologues delivered from the bizarre cast of characters keeps the film interesting.
Impressive set pieces goes to show how bloated the production was.
