Review of Apocalypse Now (1979) by Dalton M — 01 Jun 2012
Visually stunning, like a terrible fever dream. But while the critique of lunacy of war is irresistably sharp, the last half hour of the movie reads as an uncritically orientalist fantasy, particularly when compared with Conrad's novel.
Also, Brando's performance came across more silly than scary/impressive to me.
