Review of Apocalypse Now (1979) by Ryan O — 23 Jun 2012
Coppola's adaptation of the heart of darkness is a haunting tale of what the Vietnam war did to soldiers. At times I wanted to turn away from what was happenening but I couldn't it was like a drug that I needed more of, thats scary.
This film shows how regular men like you and me can change to the insane bloodthirsty machines that war can turn us into. Martin Sheen is that man on the brink of turning into Kurtz (Brando) if he's pushed far enough.
With great performances from the entire cast and a story that could bring a rock solid man to his knees, Apocalypse Now is one of the greatest films of all time.
