Review of Apocalypse Now (1979) by Bryan J — 05 Aug 2014

This surreal war film is far beyond its years. It contains incredible visuals which creates incredible emotional depth and on top of that extremely interesting, smart and radical ideas about what it truly takes to be in their kind of work.

However, the big problem for me was that the ideas felt forced. (SPOILERS) The man who introduced all these radical ideas was only shown in the last 30 minutes of film. The way he speaks and his flow from thought to thought are genuine but you see no actions of his to back it up.

This in turn makes the meanings empty and less meaningful. You could argue that the meanings were meant to be applied to the main characters story but unfortunately it didn't seem fitting enough for him either.
