The experience of watching Coppola's classic masterpiece is truly like no other. It is difficult to comprehend the feel of the film into words, as it is an immersive cinematic experience, the visuals etc.
beholding what is so unique about the film in the first place. A picture with as chaotic a production as the story the film itself tells, every aspect has clearly been a tryingly obsessive task. The atmospherically vibrant cinematography, the performances all round by Martin Sheen, Marlon Brando, Dennis Hopper and Robert Duvall being absolutely stunning, the soundtrack, filled with everything from Wagner to The Doors and above all the chillingly good direction.
Watching the film is like tripping on acid, gazing into the abyss. A real masterpiece and one of the greatest war films ever made.
