Review of Apocalypse Now (1979) by Unclewillard — 14 Mar 2019
THE Vietnam movie, yet it's below Inside Out? I struggle to see the logic in that, given the scope and magnitude of this movie. War/military movies aren't for everyone nor is this, but it's jarring at the very least.
I prefer the Redux version, because it includes the French colonist bit that is important when we're talking about Vietnam, but even the documentary about the film is better than a good dozen films above this on the list.
If you haven't seen it, you simply must, if only for Brando's Kurtz. I suggest you read Heart of Darkness first, but it's not a necessity.
