Review of Apocalypse Now (1979) by Saurabh K — 01 Apr 2013
The other day I finally had time to screen the 3 hour 20 minute directors cut of Apocalypse Now. This film achieves greatness with flying colors as it proves to be memorable in all possible ways and challenges the viewer to dig deep into its thick mysterious layers.
This really was a showcase of film dedication at its best, presenting other-worldy performances from Sheen, Hopper and Brando, all of which--in their own rights--leave a haunting aftertaste. I found this film to be intellectually stimulating while also exhausting to watch, adding to its overall effectiveness.
A visual masterpiece, it blends all aspects of great cinema to achieve a mural of excellent value.
