Review of Any Given Sunday (1999) by Jason C — 15 Mar 2010
This is the movie about professional football the NFL doesn't want people to see. Stone immediately cuts to the underbelly of professional sports, from the internal conflict of superstar egos to the drug and alcohol fueled parties.
It was no wonder the NFL refused to license their teams for this film. It takes a really gritty look at football, a non-"Disneytized" version unlike Remember the Titans. Props to the entire cast who did an outstanding job, especially Al Pacino in perhaps the most inspirational speech ever.
