Review of Anvil! The Story of Anvil (2008) by Don P — 29 Jul 2009
This film manages to be both touching and hilarious, an odd combination to say the least. You have got to feel for Lips and Reiner, a pair of washed up rockers who have been knocked down so many times I'm not sure they even know which way is up, but who somehow they always manage to get back to their feet.
For these two 50+ year old men, the dream of superstardom is still alive within their hearts, and they'd rather bite the dust than stop jamming. Inspirational, to say the least, yet moronic; it's tough whether to call these guys courageous or idiotic.
Irregardless, Anvil is a solid, well-done documentary that I dare you not to enjoy (on some level).
