Review of Antonia's Line (1995) by Gayle I — 06 Nov 2007
What a wonder to see a history/heritage film that refuses to follow cliched family/war/love story tropes. Even though this film takes place in a seemingly ordinary small town in Holland, it feels epic.
Sweeping, sad, lonely, celebratory, philosophical, benevolent, and skeptical all at once. Antonia was one strong woman.
