Review of Ant-Man (2015) by Dan B — 03 Dec 2017
Good... but not great, particularly as far as previous Marvel movies. Some very funny scenes, however, and Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd were excellent choices I thought casting-wise. The film does a solid job building Ant-Man's story and background. I wasn't totally sold on Corey Stoll and Evangeline Lilly (to my own surprise actually), but they convinced me by the end. Still, I think there was still more potential the film could have reached had there been some better lines/writing. I am looking forward to seeing Ant-Man's return, however, and the mid-credits and post-credits scenes were great as well.
Edit: Upon further review, I've bumped up my rating of this movie from 3.5 to 4 stars after giving it a second watch. I may have been too critical of Stoll and Lilly, and Douglas and Rudd deserve more praise with the job they did. The script still could have been better, however.
