As a standalone superhero movie, Ant-Man is pretty great. It would be like an 8 if the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe didn't already exist.
Because we've been spoiled by the high quality of most of the rest of the MCU, Ant-Man is like a 6 or a 7. It's fun and sciencey but most of the humor seems forced and many of the jokes just didn't land.
