Review of Another Year (2010) by The Bad G — 08 Feb 2011
A solid drama taking place over a year as it follows a couple and the friends and family in their lives. The film has sweet, sad, and touching moments throughout. And the cast is great, particularly Lesley Manville as a friend of the family dealing with loneliness.
I actually really wish the film just focused on her and made her the main character, as I feel the real emotional sadness in the film comes from her. But by not doing so, I struggled to connect with what the actual conflict of the film actually is.
I like Mike Liegh as a filmmaker, but I felt just wanting more from this one by the end of it.
