A thoroughly excellent film. All the characters are realistic--often painfully so. Lesley Manville's portrayal of the perpetually soused and desperate-to-change friend was exquisite. Peter Wright's aged-out drunken lout was spot-on.
Painful, endearing, and occassionally absurd: but believably so.
