Scrupulously well executed, as always for a Leigh film, but also, as in the past, weighed down with an incredibly whiny character of central concern who makes you just want to slap her up side the head and say "WILL you sober up and get some help! No WONDER men have abandoned you!" Tends to suck the tragedy down toward mere soap opera and the big So What?
