Review of Another Woman (1988) by Will I — 23 Jan 2011
Made when Woody Allen was arguably at the height of his talents, Another Woman is a deeply affecting movie about regret. Gena Rowlands plays a woman who has been cold and sometimes cruel to the people who love her and now realizes how few of them still care for her.
In most other movies the narration that she provides over the whole movie would seem excessive, here it helps us see the world from her distant view. It is amazing how prolific Allen has been and so naturally a lot of his films fall through the cracks, I am very pleased to have watched this quiet small film of his.
