Review of Another Earth (2011) by Raj D — 27 Sep 2012
Finally a movie with pace, pathos, and personality. The search for atonement is relentlessly interesting and only really falters towards the end. Suspension of belief is important, to call it science fiction is a mistake.
It's a modern fantasy film, without the stupid mediaeval backdrop or boring vampire fetishism that plagues the genre. The strong primary narrative is intertwined with the secondary plots, without being overwhelmed by them.
The ending could have the last 15 minutes of the film are its shallower bit, thankfully there is much enjoyment in the rest of the film.
