Review of Anonymous (2011) by Pedro G — 09 Nov 2011
A period what if story by Roland Emmerich who I still greatly miss from the older school disaster films of the 90's, that actually begs the question what if one of the royal court ended up being the true author of all of Shakespeare's plays and the real Shakespeare was a mere front to protect his identity.
Also tying in palace intrigue involving several love children sired by Queen Elizabeth is inserted to try and make the material even more "high brow", but unfortunately a good chuck of the dialogue and performance choices came across as either unitentionally funny or 2 dimentional.
Wasnt better or worse then expected, but was a great idea that given to another director or show runners might have had a slightly more deft and engaging touch at least for me.
