Review of Anomalisa (2015) by Kelvin W — 19 Jan 2016
Loneliness is universal, and unexpectedly, in the midst of the mundanity of life, an anomaly will occur that connects us on an intimate scale. Behind the brilliant mind of Charlie Kaufman comes a personal project that peels back layers of the human condition, slowly divulging the need to act based on a particular and crippling void.
We are all broken to some degree, and Kaufman translates his singular vision into one beautiful yet tragic stop motion animation. The film will not match conventional tastes, but for me, it was a solid, inventive, and admirable anomaly in my timeline.
