Review of Annihilation (2018) by Ricky D — 14 Mar 2018
I wasn't too interested on first sight. Had nothing to do so I decided to finish this one. It's an interesting story though. I had this "Last Of Us"(Video Game) vibe until the last couple of scenes.
This post-apocalypse feel almost. The atmosphere (Music, sounds) also had me thinking about "The Last Of Us" I really liked that. The movie has the viewers questioning a lot of things about life, be it science, religion or just the meaning of life.
The surroundings in this movie are very pleasing to the eyes. CG-Wise it was alright, they did a very good job although there were some bits where it could have been much better. The movie did have a few plot-twists, the move ended in an open-ending, left me hanging with a lot of questions, things I still NEEDED to see.
They decided to go for a full female-cast (lead roles), characters were diverse had a little backstory to them, we didn't really go too deep, so I don't believe the viewers will care much about them (Everyone excluding Natalie Portman).
I like the sci-fi visuals and the interesting mix of the "post-apocalyptic" genre. Overall, an alright movie. Recommended to light sci-fi lovers and people who love the "zombie-esque" type of movies.
