Review of Annihilation (2018) by Caleb R — 25 Jan 2019
After seeing Ex Machina, you can imgaine that I had high expectations for another Alex Garland Sci-Fi flick. But I gotta tell ya, this is a big swing and a miss. Super slow, constant flash back nonsense (its getting so overused in movies nowadays), very implausible plot situations and holes, weak character development, uninspired acting - geez this just didn't work.
I'm going to attribute some of the blame to the fact that this is an adaptation from a book. All too often we see these adaptations that never really capture the essence of the book - I never read it, but suffice it to say this should have stayed a book story.
I truly hope Alex bounces back from this.
