Review of Annihilation (2018) by Ryan G — 06 Jun 2018
A dozen and a half times. That is how many times I have thus far immersed myself in this story. Annihilation is mysterious, troubling, psychologically dark, and at times overwhelming. The movie provides more than mere glimpses into the consequences of mistakes, and into some of the dark recesses of human nature. I am a horror fan, but I have never seen a more frightening or unnerving scene than when the women are invaded by the mutated bear. A bear, it seems, bent on murder rather than seeking food.
This is just a paltry overview that, as I go into my 20th viewing barely opens you to the very human and disturbing masterwork known as Annihilation.
