Review of Annie (2014) by Christo A — 04 Oct 2015
A terrible waste of time and talent. It's one of those stories that should not be ''reimagined''. With all do respect to the actors, but the only one that was suitable for her role was Rose Byrne.
If they were gonna make a black Annie, they should've written completely new songs. For the first time Cameron Diaz was terrible. She's just too nice, pretty and bubbly to play a heartless woman.
It was like she put up a ''bad break-up'' mood to act cruel, and it didn't work. Plus I could've sworn I saw a signed Cameron Diaz poster in Lou's shop. Stephanie Kurtzaba (who plays the social worker) would've made a much better Ms Hannigan.
The music was well choreographed and well cliched, they could've done with some originality. If you're gonna make a black Annie, you might as well fully commit and make all the originally white characters, black, just sayin.
