Review of Annie (2014) by Smbubba — 29 Dec 2014
We saw this with our 8-year-old daughter. She loved the movie. As the parents, we were expecting the worst as we are both familiar with the original Broadway show and the previous film versions. We were pleasantly surprised.
We were not expecting it to be a cookie-cutter of past versions, which was a good thing - if you have such love for the originals, then this version will annoy you. It brings it to the current age in the rewrites of some of the songs and the inclusion of social media as part of the plot lines.
We all thought that the actors did a good job with their characters. The directing and production could have been a bit more honed, but let's not forget that this is a movie made for the younger set. It is heaps better than Spy Kids 4.
