Review of Annie (2014) by Kriebelr — 21 Dec 2014
Let me start with the good points: Jamie Fox did a nice job of playing Stacks, the new Warbucks. That almost sickeningly cute Wallis kid was just that. Hard Knock Life was a well done musical number. There were a few funny cute moments that made me smile.
Now for a longer list. Cameron Diaz was not a good Hannigan. It was pretty much unwatchable any time she was on the screen. The acting in general was terrible. They really should have done a lot more singing, because at least then things were tolerable. That being said, the musical numbers weren't good. Not over the top enough, but subdued just enough to be awkward and weird.
On top of that, the movie never addressed the key point of: Just where are Annie's parents? I feel bad for this movie Annie...she's going to live her life with the rich Stacks and never know if here parents are alive or not. In the stage production that is address.
Save you money. Watch it at home if you watch it at all. Or better yet, look up Hard Knock Life on YouTube and just watch that.
