Review of Annie (1982) by Nikolai E — 30 May 2009
I'll just say, my favorite part of this deep-fried cornball is when a communist antagonizer tries to kill Daddy Warbucks with a bomb, and this is explained by saying that "Oliver Warbucks is living proof that capitalism really works.
" Self-made or no, if the presence of a multi-billionaire during a countrywide depression is proof capitalism works, the communists should put Warbucks on a recruiting poster. There's a few nice songs, I'm just spoiled into expecting musicals to have any kind of a story at all, and I know that's wrong.
