Review of Anne of the Thousand Days (1969) by Denise H — 20 Oct 2009
A lusty and powerful movie about Henry VIII and his romance (and eventual troubled marriage) to Anne Boleyn. Richard Burton is superb in his role as Henry--a besotted man in his early 40's desperate to have a male heir to leave his kingdom to.
Genevieve Bujold plays her part with skill and courage as the woman (Anne Boleyn) who plots her way to Henry's bed and as his queen. The dynamics at court and the different players and their schemes weave a dangerous web with tragic consequences! A movie to watch over and over again.
