Review of Annapolis (2006) by Craig B — 16 Jul 2010

The starting shows potential to be a good movie but overall it falls short. James Franco is working in a shipyard and boxing. His dream finally realise when he was chosen to go to the naval academy. In the bar celebrating, his friend trick him to hook up Jordana Brewster, saying she's an escort.

She didn't get angry but was gone when he went to stop a fight. The first day doing exercise, she is one of the officer in charge of his company which surprise him. Tyrese Gibson is their tough, no nonsense OC.

Wilmer Calderon is been mark for not having clean shave and smell of cologne. He is told to shower and shave every 3 hrs after lights out. Vicellous Reon Shannon is mark for been too fat to complete the obstacle course.

James has disadvantage as he didn't complete high school and slow in learning academics. One occasion he answer wrongly and the whole table of recruits couldn't enjoy the lunch. During an inspection, Wilmer is told he can stop the "disinfection" but their bunk mate Roger Fan insist he told the truth that he didn't shower last night.

When Tyrese wants to inspect their bunk, the 2 recruits fight. At a ship sinking scenario, James wasn't happy of the way been teach and Tyrese confronted him. At the boxing demo by Tyrese, the coach Chi McBride ask if anyone want to challenge Tyrese.

James step up and was easily defeated. He punch him when Tyrese is going off the ring. Wilmer is expel from the academy. When James return home for visit, he thought of quitting. Jordana find him at the bar and told him not to give up.

At the roll call, James arrive late. A boxing match is coming up and James trains hard for it, also studying hard. Jordana trains with him. Vicellous gave him lots of junk food to boost his weight up so he can join the heavy weight category to fight Tyrese.

He makes it in the end. The first match James fight with Roger and all he take is just a knockout punch and he win. The final obstacle test, Vicellous clear them all but still fail by 4 seconds. The next moment he jump down.

He didn't die and is in hospital. The last match James fight Tyrese and in the end the latter win by points. At the displinary board, James was let off with small punishment and with the help of Tyrese.

James and the rest pass out and is now offically naval officer. They could have show more of their training days and more about their ups and downs in the academy, which will definately be more entertaining and better potential.

Overall still average enjoyable. Jordana is really really hot.
