Review of Annabelle: Creation (2017) by Noelle W — 10 Aug 2017
This movie has so many reasons to watch it! If you love horror you will be afraid. If you love the Conjuring franchise this film is a must. It gives you the story behind Annabelle and makes you want to see more of what she's capable of.
There is an eerie feeling that while absent in the poster is fully captured by the cinematographer. This is accomplished beautifully by the lighting, the scenic design and even the camera angles.
The story is not overly compelling on paper and the scare tactics are not new. But Sandberg deftly delivers the suspense and one character in particular keeps us glued until the end. The performance of Talitha Bateman as the vulnerable polio stricken Janice is so compelling that I found myself hoping for a different outcome in spite of the obvious. Yet once Annabelle took over poor Janice I couldn't wait to see more of Talitha's possession. Thank you for teasing us at the end for a return to the franchise with the young Miss Bateman as a terrifying young Annabelle.
Cannot wait to see the next one!
