Review of Annabelle: Creation (2017) by Harry W — 30 Aug 2017

Annabelle: Creation is a worthwhile entry into the Conjuring saga and is undoubtedly terrifying in its meandering plot of dead children, haunted houses and possessed dolls. With a story on par with the first Conjuring film in terms of darkness, Creation tries to give the titular doll a backstory that will make you want to rush to view the previous entries in the series to fill in all the loose gaps.

Director David F. Sandberg seems to borrow far too much from the Conjuring universe's similar tropes; at every turn there seems to be a dark doorway and a steadily creaking door, someone looking over the edge of the bed or disembodied footsteps and it does feel like we have seen these things all before and some parts of the film are tiresome and monotonous because of this.

The two child actors playing the leads are phenomenal young actors and have bright futures ahead of them.
