Review of Annabelle: Creation (2017) by Mrpajamas — 28 Nov 2021
Annabelle: Creation has a slightly different charm. The houses in the city have been replaced with one big house away from people and I can say that I liked this change. The atmosphere was fine. But what was by far the best part was the plot itself.
It does, as the title reveals, tell a story that took place before the first episode and it all starts to fall into place at the end. There were also a couple of scares where I got scared compared to the first Annabelle.
I'm excited about the sequel. On the one hand, although the change of scenery was a nice change, I'm still leaning towards the atmosphere and charm of the previous installment, where I didn't get scared once, but the film just appealed to me more.
For me the horror is not so much the story, but rather the atmosphere, which I personally found a bit more in the previous film. I was more interested in the plot of the second part. In the end, it's hard for me to say which film was better.
For most people it's clearly the second one, but I'll probably go with the first one, which I just liked and had a kind of charm for me. To sum it all up. Annabelle: Creation is a good horror movie for me to recommend and if you didn't like the first one, this might be something for you because the change of scenery made it a completely different movie in my opinion.
