Review of Anna Karenina (2012) by Edward C — 15 May 2013
Every shot is a marvel to chew on, hence making director Joe Wright's conceptually refreshing adaptation of the Russian literature classic very rewatchable. On a seemingly singular stage, production sets literally changed within seconds as the camera followed characters moving from a confined scene to another! Here the effort paid off handsomely and never diluted the drama, projecting a lavishly shallow yet claustrophobic high society where the already-married Anna Karenina (played very finely by Keira Knightley) was seduced into an eventually doomed affair.
