Review of Anna Karenina (2012) by Bill C — 13 Apr 2013
Give in to a seamless Tom Stoppard screenplay and you will be rewarded with this richly eccentric interpretation of the Tolstoy classic. The sumptuous and occasionally overwhelming production design is oddly reminiscent of "My Fair Lady".
Keira Knightley gives us a girlish Anna; Aaron Johnson's Vronsky never commands our attention. Hollywood continues to struggle with Tolstoy men.
