Review of Anna Karenina (2012) by Hugo Emanuel M — 20 Nov 2013
A severly dissapointing adaptation of an amazing and rich novel. It's lush cinematography, costume, soundtrack and imagery is occasionaly beautiful but the constant shifts between theatre-like setpieces, real lanscape and actual locations turned it into a overly-stylized, pointless and ultimatly cold effort.
Had it had the boldness to opt either for a stage like presentation or a real location based production it would have been great, given the great job by some of the members of the cast. However as it stands it's just a big mess.
