Review of Animal Kingdom (2010) by Jens T — 28 Oct 2011
Animal Kingdom is the story about a teenager named Joshua "J" Cody who just become an orphan after his mother took a drug overdose, he seems kind of unconcerned about, and basically all other things.
But he's gonna have place to stay, so he call the only person he can call, his aunt Janine Cody (Jacki Weaver) who's all her grown up children still is bonded by her, and sometimes lives at home.
She's kind of the proud lioness who does every thing for her children. Most of them are drug addicts, and one day the most intoxicated son, Andrew kills J's girl friend, and J have to decides between family or go strictly to the police and serve Andrew the justice he deserve.
Animal Kingdom is an average all right indie film. But the characters seems to stoned, except Jacki Weaver who's able to carry the whole film, she's defiantly the most interesting of them all, with her sweet voice and creepy appearance, it's a character i've have pretty mixed feelings about.
I don't know if I like her or if she gives me chills. I give it a thumbs, and recommend it just because of Weavers academy award nominated performance.
