Ben Mendelsohn's performance is top-notch, but the lead is the most unmotivated and dull character ever who can't emote to save his life. The soundtrack is over-the-top and tries to cover up weak acting moments. It's also overly long.

A classic case of critics going goo-goo ga-ga over a film just because its setting is a tad out of the ordinary.
