Review of Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging (2008) by Joey R — 01 Nov 2012
Grade: D+.
Embarassing and light teen schmaltz that wont appeal to anyone over the age of fourteen. Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging is about a 14 year old teenager Georgia Nicholson and her typical teen issues to do with boys, friends, parents and self-confidence. The film was more embarrasing than funny. I mean I had some pretty embarassing moments as a teenager, for example saying the most cringey-worthy things to boys I liked, but I wouldnt say it related that much to my teenage years. Georgia has a more charmed time being a teenager than most I would think; she gets the guy of her dreams and life goes her way in the end, hardly how I remember my teenaged years. I think that Georgia Nicholson tries to be the teenaged Bridget Jones; she was likeable as a character, but I found the film a bit stupid, immature, over the top and unrealistic. I think this is a film purely for a teenaged audience, the type who are text-crazed and Twilight loving and say OMG at the start of every sentence. I dont really think that many people above the age of 14 or 15 will care much for the film. It's not a detestable movie, but definitely not my kind of film. The only thing I really liked about the movie was the cat Angus, meow I love cats.
