Review of Angus (1995) by Marc B — 10 Dec 2006
Proving that sometimes the best teen comedies are the ones few have seen, 'Angus' maybe very formula but it succeeds thanks to it's spirit and superb dialogue. Like a teen 'Muriel's Wedding', it's very funny, has great and refreshingly believable charecters and a kickass soundtrack.
It's given a great eye by director Johnson (starting with the brass-band opening titles accopanying it's opening rock song) and doesn't shy away from some edgier moments. The love-interest isn't bland and it's hero a flawed cynic.
And the scene in the prom nominations assembly is still one of my all time fave laugh out loud movie moments. Seek it out!
