Review of Angus (1995) by Chelsea W — 04 Jun 2009
A fantastic trip down memory lane. A fat-kid underdog story, but with a little bit darker edge. I think it's because Angus isn't a pie-in-the-sky optimist. He knows that he is different, and so does everyone else around him.
In the end, it's not that everyone else accepts him, it's that he accepts himself. Anyway, that's all secondary to the hilarious, quotable lines, George C. Scott as a narcoleptic grandpa, an early appearance of the Shermanator, James Van Der Beek's first movie, and one of the best soundtracks ever assembled.
It's a who's who of 90's alternative. You'll have to find this one online (like I did) or drag out the old VHS, because this one isn't yet available on DVD. That's a shame. Highly recommended.
