Review of Angel Heart (1987) by Peppino G — 22 Dec 2007
Chilling, perfect atmospheric fusion of gumshoe mystery and horror...suffused the with the sodden but beautiful voudou vibe of New Orleans. Rourke is at his best here, driven, haunted...won't spoil the ending but it's a clever twist that if you go back and watch Rourke's performance emerges from his character inexorably.
For what it sets out to do this is the most perfect film I can recall.
