Review of Angel Heart (1987) by Serkan S — 21 Jun 2009

I first rented this movie in high school (behind my mother's back) to see Lisa Bonet naked. Since she doesn't disrobe 'til about an hour and forty five minutes into the movie, I sat through most of it and was spellbound.

This is a very hypnotic, spooky, violent and entertaining film. The plot itself is fascinating, with several twists and turns and a slam-banger suprise ending. But the real deal here is the style. The lighting, set design, costuming, cinematography, musical score and acting all combine to create a movie that is really haunting.

Have some patience (it does move slow) keep the kids far away and enjoy something a little different!
