At the time of its release caused quite a controversy but if released today probably wouldn't cause such a hub-bub. Definintely one of the most mind-blowing and twisted films ever done. De Niro as Lucifer is simply cinematic gold.
His scenes in the church are especially haunting and fun to watch. Not for the faint of heart, especially if you watch the unedited or director's cut. Some very disturbing scenes. But a powerfully mind-blowing experience on its own.
The movie that got Lisa Bonet kicked off The Cosby Show and shunned by Hollywood so you know it's got to be good.
