Review of Angel-A (2005) by Allyson L — 19 Mar 2008
I really liked this film. It is incredibly beautiful to look at, and that's not just a from gleaming at the lead actress. It's everything about it that makes it work.
The only real damper on its parade is Rie Rasmussen's performance. At times it's perfect...at others it's laughable. However, I fault Besson for presenting a key dramatic moment like it's from the devilish mind of Terry Gilliam. It makes the legitimate tears of Angela come off as comical.
