Review of And While We Were Here (2012) by Private U — 03 Nov 2013
And While We Were Here could have been a lot better than what it ended up being. It was a bit too short and it took too long until the main story even started.
I tend to like movies like this. Movies with extraordinary imagery and a certain vagueness to it all. But some parts were just left unsaid, that should have been told for you to understand it more. Everything was pretty much told through dialogue, which means that they left out a lot that needed to be there.
Even though the photography was amazing, you still started to wonder by the end of it, what did they really want to say by making this movie? Because it felt like everything started and ended so abruptly. It took about an hour for the whole point of it all to begin, but then the whole movie ended twenty minutes later.
I wanted more. But other than that it was a beautiful movie. It only really has four actors in it but it still managed to tell a story about alienation and neglect, betrayal and seclusion.
