Review of Anchors Aweigh (1945) by Lagina P — 05 Aug 2007
This classic musical was the first of three films partnering the affable and talented Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra. A fun, energetic movie, "Anchors" is a good watch, so long as you can get past director George Sidney's slight case of ADD.
It'll make you want to check out Kelly and Sinatra's other two flicks: "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" and "On the Town." It's worth noting that in this film was Kelly's first two dream dance sequences, which would later be a Kelly film staple - one of which is a live-action/animation crossover that pairs Kelly with Jerry The Mouse in a first-of-its-kind duet (which means we have Kelly to thank for Paula Abdul's "Opposites Attract" video).
