Review of Anatomy of a Murder (1959) by Jim S — 24 Nov 2009
Engrossing courtroom drama with some superb performances. I particularly liked the judge, and I believe he wasn't even an actor. Stewart has probably the most likeable screen presence that the world has ever known.
I was also struck by how modern the script sounded after 50 years. After two and a half hours, I wasn't sure whether the ending truly hit the spot as it left a lot of ambiguity, but this film will stick in my mind for a long time.
